The chair was formed in 1997. Educational staff of the chair consists of 11 persons.

Educational work

• in-service foreign languages teacher-training;
• retraining of foreign languages teachers in secondary school on the basis of higher pedagogical education ( with getting qualification);
• educational work with students of the courses of other chairs for foreign language teaching
• training of magistracy and postgraduate students for passing corresponding examinations in foreign languages
• teaching English for personnel of the Academy and other organizations.

It is supposed to train foreign languages teachers |for secondary school on the basis of secondary pedagogical education with getting qualification and higher education.

Methodical work

It is focused on the support of educational development with students of the courses.

Scientific work

It is working out the general theme of the chair 'Theory and practice of the process of retraining of specialists of education in speciality 'Foreign language (English, German) in the conditions of reforms'.

The main directions of educational research work at the chair are the following:

• pragmatic parameters of intercourse
• interaction of lexical and syntactic semantics in English

Publications of the chair

• educational text-books on teaching English and German;
• educational text-books on in-service foreigb languages teachers training.

Curriculum-development work

The personnel of the chair annually participate in practical and curriculum-development conferences and seminars on the problems of investigation and teaching foreign languages. The personnel of the chair periodically improve their professional competence on the basis of scientific and educational establishments of RB.
